As part of the pre-release promotional work for The Deadly Path, I wrote dialogue lines for professional comedian and actor Alasdair Beckett-King to perform in the game’s release date trailer.
Taking direction on general creative themes from the video editor, I developed several sets of dialogue lines for Alasdair to record and work with during each segment of the clip. I wanted to capture a sense of mania and humour in-keeping with the overarching tone of the game, but also develop lines that played into Alasdair’s signature comedic style. Of course, not all of the lines made it into the final edit, but I made sure there were plenty of options for the team to work with.
I turned this around in about two days as we were on a tight schedule, and the video editor, game director and publishing team were really happy with the lines and the final performances from Alasdair. It was great getting to write for an established actor and a fun exercise in concisely communicating a game’s message through the unique character voice.
